| Conclusion | In conclusion, schistosomiasis may downregulate the stimulatory effect of HCV on Th1 cytokines and this may lead to the chronicity of HCV infection in coinfected patients.;Our findings indicate that heterogeneity in the promoter region of the IL-10 gene has a role in determining a spontaneous favourable outcome of HCV infection.;No associations were observed between polymorphisms of TNF-alpha, IL-10, or IFN-gamma and viral clearance or persistent infection. Furthermore, there were no associations between cytokine genotypes and severity of disease. Inheritance of some genotypes associated with polymorphisms of cytokine genes, such as IL-6, may be host genetic factors associated;These results may be helpful for understanding transplant-related complications, immune or autoimmune diseases, and malignant diseases in the Korean population.Conclusion1 |
