May function in the transport of amino acids at the blood- brain barrier and in the supply of maternal nutrients to the fetus through the placenta.||ENZYME REGULATION:Inhibited by N-methyl-D-glucamine and probably choline.||BIOPHYSICOCHEMICAL PROPERTIES:Kinetic parameters: KM=0.39 mM for 2-methylamino-isobutyric acid (MeAIB) (at pH 8.0);||SUBCELLULAR LOCATION:Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.
